A Senior Community Close to Nature

A Senior Community Close to Nature

April 26th, 2021

Spring brings a lot of reasons to be cheerful. Bird songs, baby animals, blooming flowers—and, the chance to get out after what felt like an especially long winter! Here at The Hamlets at Duncan, we are especially cheerful because our construction is nearly completed and, if all goes according to plan, residents will be enjoying the wonderful new facilities by summertime.

The Hamlets at Duncan are called an “Assisted Living and Complex Care Community,” but the space we aim to create is so much more than that! Our location is nestled in nature, bordered by the Somenos March and just minutes away from a choice of walking trails. The nearby Somenos Conservation Area serves as a wonderful example of what we strive to be: an environmentally friendly addition to the natural and social ecosystems here in Duncan. We take this example to heart, and in honour of that dedication, we have named “Somenos” as the theme of our building. This theme is manifest not just in our proximity to those beautiful wetlands—but also in the decor and design of the interior as well. Like the yin inside the yang, we have strived to bring the outside inside.

As construction wraps up, the vaccine rollout continues. With Phase 2 of Assisted Living opening this summer, we are looking forward to welcoming our new community members. Our 88 LTC rooms are divided into five smaller neighbourhoods, a configuration that fosters a sense of meaningful community participation with one’s neighbours. We have also incorporated a spiritual/sacred space that can be used as a gathering place for spiritual practices such as smudging.

The Hamlets at Duncan is a brand-new, assisted-living and complex-care senior community in Duncan, BC, on Vancouver Island. Guided by the tenets of Christian faith, and with a stellar staff and multiple amenities, The Hamlets at Duncan, is the premier senior-living choice for the area.
